Not Me Monday

Ok I've decided to give this Not Me Monday a try, this is my very first time to participate. To learn more about Not Me Mondays head over to MckMama's blog. So here goes...

I most certainly did not just shave my legs for the first time in like a week, yesterday. What self respecting girl would hold out that long? In the process of shaving said legs, I most certainly did not nick my self multiple times, you'd think with a decade plus of experience that wouldn't still happen.

Being the absolute animal lover that I am, I most certainly did not almost go crazy while house/pet sitting at my friend's house this weekend. I don't know how much more I could have taken of dogs chasing cat, dogs nudging me for attention, dogs licking every bit of my exposed skin they could get to. Elyse, if you happen to read this, I still love your animals, and will house sit any time.

While doing some work from home yesterday, I most certainly did not spend equal time actually working and reading this blog.

While staying at the hospital with a friend who is about to have a baby, I did not look longingly at the babies in the nursery wishing one of them was mine. Oh well, my time will come someday.

I am most certainly not about to send an angry email to some person on eBay because I purchased some stuff like two weeks ago, and still haven't received it!

I most certainly did not wake up at 3:45am this morning and decided I might as well just go to work, and instead of work, I wrote this post, and read other peoples blogs, and contemplated starting a new blog myself. Nope, I wouldn't waste company time doing that.

And finally, I did not feel like it was Christmas all over again this week because I received my camera backpack case in the mail that I had ordered from Amazon with money from Christmas. I love it, now I need to buy new lenses so I can fill all the spaces. While I'm at it, I think I'd like a new camera. Alas, I don't have an extra couple grand laying about. Someday though!

So that wasn't too painful, I just might post another one next week!

Well I'm about to get in the rental car and drive back to Seattle so I can go home to Texas. This has been by far probably the best vacation I have ever been on. I totally recommend visiting the Olympic Peninsula whenever you can. Besides the hotel, flight and rental car, it really is a pretty affordable vacation. Just be prepared to invest in a lot of gas if you want to drive around like I did. I definitely know I will be back up here sooner rather than later. Heck, I've got to use my free whale watching pass don't I? Next time, I'm scuba diving up here for sure.

Goodbye Washington! Now I'll just have to blog about normal boring ole life in Grapevine, Texas. I'm starting some photography courses in January so maybe I'll learn cool new photography techniques to post on here.

The woods here were pretty cool in that creepy foggy type of way. I tried to get some good pictures, but my lens kept on fogging up or getting wet. Plus, it was so dark in there that a bunch of them just ended up being blurry. I might have to invest in a tripod sometime.

So to sum up Twilight related things, I did go and eat at Bella Italia, and I did manage to get the Mushroom Ravioli (those who read Twilight will know the significance). I intended to go to the movies, but it was too much of a hassle in this small town (I miss you AMC). So I just hit the hay pretty early.

If anyone doesn't want to read about me acting like a 12 year old today, I suggest that you just don't read this post. Today is Twilight Day! Saved the best for last (of course). On the agenda for today will be exploring Forks (I've already been through Forks and there isn't much to explore), then I'll head out to La Push to visit First Beach, then back to Port Angeles for dinner at Bella Italia and I'll try to end the day with seeing Twilight at the theater here (it will be my 2nd time). Before I continue on with everything Twilight related, a quick note about yesterday.

Yesterday: Day 4

I went whale watching and it was a bust. No whales all day. All I saw where some seals and sea lions. Oh well, they did give me a life time guarantee pass to come back until I see some whales (like I need an excuse to come back here). I intended to go to Canada to whale watch but they never emailed me back so I just stuck with a company here in Washington. They were very nice and I managed to stay on a boat for 6 hours without feeling queasy. Here are 2 of the 3 photos I took yesterday.

Ok so back to Twilight. For this day, I had to have to proper equipment. That is equipment is as follows:

And last but not least the music selection of today. I could have gone in 3 different directions on this one. I figured I could go with the Twilight soundtrack (which I don't own by the way, not really my type of music for the most part), a Stephenie Meyer playlist (lots of Muse I suspect), or a book reference. I went with the book reference and chose to download the best of DeBussy on my Ipod for my listening enjoyment today. So I'm all ready to go, I'll post pics later.

Update

So I've made it back to my hotel without becoming a vampire (darn it!). Just kidding. I had more fun than I thought I would in Forks. I was not the only fan of Twilight visiting, so I didn't look like a total retard taking pictures of random places. The residents of Forks were very nice so that was a bonus. I don't know if it's just the really nasty unhealthy food I've been eating, but I swear I had the best Subway sandwich I've ever had in Forks. Thank you Forks for giving me the 2nd best meal I've had while here. Oh and by the way, a great Pyrenees tried to attack my car (he was MASSIVE).

So after Forks, I headed off to La Push. I really tried to find First Beach but I couldn't find it for some reason. So I settled for second best and went to 2nd Beach (no pun intended). It was really stormy weather so I didn't really get to see much besides waves and rain. Oh, well.

Since 2nd Beach was a bit of a bust, I decided to head over to Clallam Bay. The weather was much nicer/calmer there, so I was able to search around on the beach, take some pictures, and make a new friend.

So now I'm off to eat after I finish posting my pictures. Hope it's better than the first restaurant I ate at in Port Angeles.

Cape Flattery

Here are some of the pictures I took at Cape Flattery. Cape Flattery is the northwestern most point of Washington state. It is a beast to get to, but it is definitely worth it. I knew going into today, that since the weather was nice, this would be my final destination of the day. I really wanted the opportunity to get some sunset pictures before the weather turns all cloudy and rainy within the next couple days. I also knew going in, that I might have to walk in the woods in semi-kinda darkness after waiting for the sun to set. Regardless of that realization, I still almost had a heart attack on my way back to the car. If there is one thing that freaks me out, it's being in the woods in the dark. But I made it out without a bear or other large wild animal getting me. I think the pictures were well worth the strain.

Here are a few pics of Madison Falls, Crescent Lake, and I believe the Elwha River. Our nasty Texas waters can't compete with what they have up here. All the water is very blue and so clear you can actually see the bottom (unlike Texas water).

This was my first experience of the day with seeing parts of the actual coast line. It was pretty awesome. At one point, I did decided it would be a fun idea to dip my feet in the water, which real quickly turned into a very bad idea. PSA - wear appropriate attire before attempting to go into freezing cold water.

So I'm staying in the fairly little town of Port Angeles, Washington. From what I can tell, it's a pretty cool little town. It might lack in some of the refinements bigger towns have, but it sure does make up for it with great views of the sea. Here are a couple pics of the town.

Well I was a busy little beaver today. I drove around, hiked around, tried to swim around (didn't manage this one) a good portion of the Olympic Peninsula. I took somewhere around 200 pictures (no worries, I wont post that many), almost had a heart attack more than once, and in general had a darn awesome day. So since so much of my day was broken up into different places, I am going to post them differently so it's easier on me. So read on if you want to find out what adventures I had today.

Greetings from Vegas. Thanks Elyse for the 5 bucks for the airport slots. Too bad it was gone in less than 10 minutes. I just paid over 3 bucks for a 20oz Diet Coke. Airports are such rip offs. I am almost positive that I just saw Cary Hart looking a one of those departure/arrival screens. I’m not 100% it was him but he does live in Vegas so I’m pretty confident on my celebrity spotting. Well I’ve got about 30 minutes than it’s back on the plane for Seattle.

Wednesday update to this post

Ok, so I was super duper tired when I finally made it to my hotel yesterday, so I didn't update this post when I should have. After my flight was delayed for a bit in Vegas, I made it to Seattle safe and sound, somewhere a little after noon. I had already planned on going to this fancy veggie restaurant http://www.cafeflora.com/ as soon I got to Seattle. It was good but a little hard to find since I'm not used to this city. Then I proceeded to wonder around for a good 45 minutes trying to find Pike Market. I finally found it, no thanks to my terrible sense of direction (and mapquest for telling me to head southeast on a street, like I'd be able to figure that one out). It was cool, I saw those fish guys who yell and throw fish at people. I think I even saw that guy who worked there when the Real World Seattle was taking place (I know, I know, that was like 8 years ago or something). Since it was getting dark (at only 4pm!), I decided to just go on to my hotel which is about 2 hours from Seattle. I made a quick stop at Trader Joe's (please, please come to Texas), picked up some cheap wine, some funky bread (you'll see what I'm talking about later) and some other snacks to keep at my hotel. Once I got past Tacoma, I was in a constant panic attack till I made it to Port Angeles. Apparently here in Washington all their state highways are 1 lane going each way, 60 miles per hour, and pitch black (at night obviously). I don't really like driving at night, especially when there are no lights, people are riding your butt, and you really have to real idea where you are going. But I made it through to blog another day. That really raps up day one. Pics should now be included if I can manage to work this right.

Ok, so tomorrow is the day. I get to wake up at the crack of dawn to be at the airport at around 5:45am. I'm getting pretty excited. I've checked and rechecked http://weather.com about a million times and I think I'll get a few days with awesome weather. I'm pretty much totally packed (packed in my language is more like overpacked) so all I need to do is get to bed at a decent time tonight.

On a side note, I took a random road trip to Arkansas yesterday. That is a very interesting place to visit. I think some of the stories about the residents of that great state are not necessarily made up. They also seem to make a sport at running over small rodent like animals, because I have never seen so much road-kill in my life. I was at least hoping to take some cool pics but alas it was rainy, foggy, and pretty much "blah."

Ok so here are some of the places that I plan on going while I'm in Washington. My base point is a little town on the coast called Port Angeles (Twilight fans will know the place). From there I plan on going as far west as the Pacific Ocean to visit some really awesome beaches to the central part of the Olympic Peninsula to visit the only rain forest in North America, and one day I plan on taking the ferry over to Victoria, British Columbia (Canada) to hopefully do some whale watching. I'm not sure what days I'll do what; it will probably be based on the weather that day. It rains a super bunch up there so that could make things difficult.

So I feel it is my duty to devote a day to Twilight (not in a role playing way or anything)! I just plan on visiting some of the places mentioned in the books (i.e. Forks, La Push, etc and so on).
